In September 2015, the World Summit for Sustainable Development was held in New York City (USA), where the UN (United Nations) approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with the aim of eradicating poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity for all people by the year 2030.
This agreement is a universal call for the struggle for sustainable human development, and to this end it defines 17 goals, the so-called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which in turn contain 169 targets.
Sustainable Development is a model that integrates in a balanced way the three dimensions of development: social, economic and environmental, which human beings impact with our actions, and by which we are affected in the same way. This is why this global call seeks to form a conscious humanity, a humanity that works for the collective good. The Waya Hotel joins this call, and raises its voice in the hope of contributing to the social, environmental and economic sustainability of our beloved planet.
The social dimension, among many other issues, aims to contribute to the eradication of poverty, which is understood as one of the scourges and greatest challenges facing humanity.
The economic dimension aims to establish the conditions for inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and to generate decent work for all people.
The environmental dimension seeks to protect the environment and care for the planet and natural resources.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
The incorporation of the SDGs Sustainable Development Goals into the organizational strategy of companies is a fundamental step towards the fulfillment of the 2030 agenda and provides companies with a perfect framework for them to report on their impact and contribution to society.
We are convinced that good environmental, social and governmental practices have a positive correlation with improvements in the corporate and financial performance of any company and therefore of any region.
At Hotel Waya, we understand that these challenges must be faced in a way adapted to the context, and that is why from our territory, we have generated multiple actions that contribute comprehensively to these objectives. One of the principles is to ensure the participation of stakeholders in the different stages of the process and each of them is relevant: employees, suppliers, allies, customers, communities, institutions and partners.
With the commitment to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals, we promote a way of traveling that not only evokes respect for nature and the environment, but also for communities and culture. With the passage of each traveler, we contribute to leave a positive impact on the lives of the inhabitants and the development of the region.
